Helix Ecology specialise in bats, and can undertake surveys throughout the UK.
All UK bats and their roosts are fully protected under UK and European legislation. Helix Ecology can undertake bat surveys in support of planning applications or to inform habitat management or conservation goals.
In addition to preliminary roost assessments (building and tree surveys), dusk and pre-dawn roost surveys and activity surveys, we can also undertake specialised bat surveys, including ground and aerial tree surveys, mist-net and harp trapping, and radio-tracking.
We are experienced at obtaining European Protected Species licences for clients, and are amongst a small number of Registered Ecologists for the Bat Low Impact Class Licence (BLICL), which means we can save our clients time and money when dealing with developments impacting minor roost sites.
Some surveys are limited to certain times of year. Forward planning will help minimise costs and prevent delays. Download our ecological survey calendar for more information, or contact us if you would like advice.
